Curriculum
Gigamind English Primary School uses school-based curriculum. Our curriculum development follows the framework suggested by the Curriculum Development Council of the Education and Manpower Bureau. However, we have higher expectation on the learning objectives of our language programmes. Hence, we have integrated the British and Australian curriculum into our English programmes and the Chinese curriculum into our Chinese subject.

After completing schooling at Gigamind, our students can enter the local secondary schools through the system of Secondary School Place Allocation. They can also receive secondary education at overseas colleges or local international schools.

Multiple Intelligences Application
The theory of MI ensures whole-brain learning. It stresses real-life learning, not the memorisation of artificial, irrelevant snatches of information. Everyone is intelligent in at least eight different ways and can develop each aspect of intelligence to an average level of competency (at the minimum). Selection of programmes of study, the delivery of programmes, and assessment are based on the eight recognized intelligences:
Linguistic Spatial/Artistic
Logical/Mathematical Naturalistic
Musical Bodily Kinaesthetic
Intra-personal Inter-personal
Student achievement in all eight areas is promoted and recognized. Children are provided with opportunities, support, and encouragement to achieve success across all intelligences.

Teaching Strategies
Individual, group, and class teaching approaches are used

Students are encouraged to be active participants in their learning and to gain a sense of purpose and develop confidence, interest, and enjoyment.

Students are engaged in understanding the concepts taught, formulating hypotheses, predicting outcomes, and testing ideas.
Sharing and discussion of ideas are encouraged.

The Chinese programme uses text materials and the project approach. It integrates the development of students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing of events experienced.

Curriculum subjects are not isolated from each other

The varied-topic studies provide a basis for English Language, Art and Craft, Music, Mathematics, Integrated Studies and Computer Studies.

A theme is followed across several curriculum areas and provides the opportunity to integrate and reinforce learning.

Lessons focusing on skill development are taught in addition to integrated work

Children have the opportunity to write every day about their own experiences and from this writing individually targeted lessons are developed in vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and phonics.
The Mathematics programme uses text materials and an experiential approach.
In Computer Studies word processing skills are taught within the English programme.
Art and Craft includes both creative and skill lessons.

A Balanced and Enhanced Curriculum
